Mukhtar Wakeel, Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol at the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), has formally assumed duty as the institution’s Acting Registrar following the expiration of the statutory five-year, non-renewable tenure of his predecessor, Zamani Habu Ibrahim.
At a brief handover ceremony in the Polytechnic’s boardroom, Wakeel lauded Ibrahim for his transformational contributions and pledged to uphold excellence, hard work and staff motivation to accelerate the institution’s growth.
He urged staff to work in unity and avoid primordial sentiments, warning that absenteeism, nonchalance and insubordination would no longer be tolerated in the registry.
The new Acting Registrar commended the leadership of the Rector, Assoc. Prof. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata, promising an open-door policy that would strengthen capacity building, staff welfare and teamwork.
In his farewell remarks, Zamani congratulated Wakeel and praised the collective efforts of staff during his tenure.
He advised his successor to uphold discipline, integrity and continuous knowledge development while assuring him of his support.
Representatives of the Governing Council and leaders of staff unions, ASUP, SSANIP and NASU, in their goodwill messages, challenged Wakeel to build on and surpass the achievements of his predecessor for the advancement of IMAP.
