The Management of Bilingual Education in Nasarawa State has concluded arrangements to commence the update and mapping of Tsangaya schools across the state.
This was disclosed by the State Programme Manager, Hajiya Zainab Magaji, during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the agency’s office opposite Secretariat Mosque, Lafia.
According to her, the exercise became necessary to obtain accurate data on Almajiri Tsangaya, noting that the last data collection was carried out in 2021.
She stressed that proper profiling of the Almajiri system would aid government and partners in planning effective interventions.
The essence is to ensure we get the correct profile of the Almajiri children and their schools,” Hajiya Zainab explained.
She appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving the memo that created the enabling environment for the exercise, describing it as a key step towards integrating Almajiri education into mainstream development plans.
“As part of the state’s contribution, land has been provided, alongside technical support, teachers, logistics, and monitoring tools.
The Islamic Development Bank, on its part, is providing physical infrastructure and instructional materials. Already, 560 mattresses and 560 pillows have been delivered as the first phase of the project,” she noted.
