A tragic incident occurred in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday when an angry mob lynched and set a woman ablaze over allegations that she attempted to abduct a seven-year-old boy.
Eyewitnesses said residents apprehended the woman after she was accused of luring the child away.
The situation quickly turned violent as the crowd reportedly beat her before setting her on fire.
Local authorities have yet to confirm the woman’s identity or whether she acted alone.
Police say an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
