Nasarawa state's drive towards improving healthcare delivery has again received a boost with renewed focus on a comprehensive policy towards total turnaround of the Nursing and Midwifery sub sector.
Towards this end, the State Governor, Engr Abdullahi A Sule has given approval for massive infrastructural development of the state's College of Nursing Sciences in a bid to bridging the gap created as a result of the takeover of the Midwifery school by the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia.
Chairman of the Governing Council of the College of Nursing Sciences, Mohammed Omas stated this while fielding questions from Journalists after an emergency meeting of the Council in Lafia.
He expressed optimism of an improved standard for the college in view of the invaluable contributions of highly experienced members of the committee that have continued to bring insightful ideas for future engagements and development.
While commending the governor for his resolve and massive investment in the health sector, Alhaji Omas expressed optimism that the blueprint for the repositioning of the college would lead to an improved teaching and learning environment that will propel the institution into a model for others.
He charged management of the college to brace up for a more vibrant academic engagement, noting that the Governing Council would live up to it's promise of justifying the governor's confidence on them.
The Council which has members drawn from line ministries of health, Information and justice also had representatives of the office of Head of the State Civil service, national Nursing and Midwifery Council among others deliberated and came up with resolutions on the State of the institution and the crave for academic excellence
