The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government in Kaduna State, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga) Declared an action plan against future reoccurrence of flood in the Area.
He made the declaration when he led officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) on inspection and assessment tour in the flood affected communities yesterday.
Our Correspondent reports that the affected communities are Kwarin Dangoma, Garejin Baba Kaduna Bridge, Kamacha/Yan Kwanoni, and Sabuwar Unguwar Magume
Others are Layin Bako Zuntu Bridge in Tukur-Tukur Ward, as well as Kofar Kuyan Bana in Unguwar Juma Ward, Zaria City.
The Chairman promised to support the affected families in to cushion the effect of the incident.
However, he warned people of the local government area to avoid dumping refuse or other trash in drainages and construction on waterways in the interest of security of lives and property.
Engineer Muhammad said that he would liaise with the State Government, the Office of the Speaker, and the Federal Ministry of Environment/Ecological Fund Office to provide lasting and sustainable to address the menace that has rocking the local government for more than 20 years.
It could be recalled that the flood claimed at least 4 lives on Tuesday in the area as a result of heavy down pour that lasted for almost 4 hours.
