The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Silas Ali Agara, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Nasarawa Patriotic Youths Alliance in their ongoing political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Agara expressed his feelings when the youth group visited him at his residence in Akwanga on Saturday, urging him to axcept their calls to contest for the Governorship seat of Nasarawa State in 2027.
During the meeting, Dr. Agara described the group's statewide consultations and town hall meetings across the thirteen Local Government Areas as patriotic, and expressed happiness with the confidence reposed in him by the group.
However, he pleaded with them to give him more time to consult widely before responding to their calls.
"I want to plead that you allow me time to consult with our leaders, my friends, and political allies, if their responses are positive or negative, you will hear from me in no distant time, he said "
Dr. Agara, who has previously run for office in 2019, explained that a lot is required to embark on such a journey, adding that he would not wish to carry people along on a project that may not come to fruition.
He also expressed concern about the high level of political campaigns in Nasarawa State, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet flagged off campaign activities nationwide.
"If you travel to other states across the country, you will discover that the tempo of political activities is still very low, but here in Nasarawa State, campaigns have begun in full swing, which is not correct," he observed.
The NDE DG urged the youth to remain focused and peaceful while their process of engagement lasts.
State Coordinator of the Nasarawa Patriotic Youths Alliance, Comr. Hamza Abubakar, who led the youth delegation, informed Dr. Agara that after series of calls during their local government engagements, they had decided to visit him to plead with him to accept their calls to run for the Nasarawa State Governorship in 2027.
He cited Dr. Agara's impressive track records in governance, which has positively impacted the people of Nasarawa State, especially the youths.
The group used the opportunity to pray for Dr. Agara's continued success in all his endeavors.
