The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to working closely with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to tackle the growing menace of drug abuse in the state.
Danladi gave the assurance while receiving the NDLEA State Commander, CN Dechi Elisha David, and his team during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Justice Headquarters in Lafia.
The Attorney General praised the NDLEA for its relentless efforts, describing drug abuse as a “cankerworm destroying society” that must be tackled with stronger institutional cooperation.
> “Without an agency like yours, perhaps the country would have been upside down. I want to commend you for the great work you are doing in reducing drug abuse in Nasarawa State.
This ministry stands ready to continue our collaboration with you as partners in progress,” Danladi said.
He stressed that the Ministry of Justice remains the “judicial conscience of the state” and would keep supporting NDLEA through legal guidance and partnership to ensure justice and stability.
Earlier, CN Dechi Elisha David commended the cordial working relationship between the ministry and the NDLEA, assuring that the command will continue to strengthen collaboration in law enforcement, sensitization, and rehabilitation.
“We are committed to sustaining this partnership. At any time the ministry requires our support, we are ready to respond.
We also run a mini rehabilitation center where victims of drug abuse are treated and reintegrated,” he stated.
Both parties agreed that the fight against drug abuse requires stronger synergy among all stakeholders, pledging to intensify efforts to safeguard Nasarawa communities from the destructive impact of illicit drugs.
