Women across Nasarawa State have passed a vote of confidence on the only female lawmaker in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, in recognition of her quality representation, advocacy for women's rights, and sponsorship of impactful legislation.

Dr. Danyaro, who represents Nasarawa Central Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), received high praise for sponsoring the first private member bill to be passed by the 7th State Assembly. The landmark legislation mandates the provision of free menstrual hygiene products by the State Government to girls in secondary schools across the state.

The commendation came during a solidarity visit led by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Barrister Hauwa Jugbo, who was accompanied by female Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to Governor Abdullahi Sule and female students from Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia.

Speaking during the visit, Barr. Jugbo said the purpose was to appreciate Dr. Danyaro’s dedication to advancing the welfare of women and girls in the state. She lauded the lawmaker for being a voice for the voiceless and for her legislative achievements, especially the menstrual hygiene bill, which she described as life-changing for young girls.

"The passage of this bill is not just historic but a major step forward for girl-child health and education in Nasarawa State. We urge His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, to swiftly assent to it considering its far-reaching impact," Jugbo stated.

In her response, Dr. Hajarat Danyaro, who also chairs the House Committee on Women Affairs, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from women and stakeholders across the state. She said the solidarity visit had reinvigorated her commitment to serve the people, especially women and girls.

She further appreciated the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, and fellow lawmakers for their continuous support in advancing meaningful legislation in the Assembly.
