The North Central Reformed Youth Assembly (NCRYA), having convened an emergency online meeting with representatives from allstates within the zone and the entire executive council as well as members of the board of trustees deliberated extensively on the state of leadership at the national level of the Reformed Youth Assembly of Nigeria.
After thorough discussions and review of recent developments, including concerns over leadership conduct, administrative lapses, and repeated disregard for due process by the National Chairman, Mr. Newman Solomon Maitoro, the Assembly resolved as follows:
1. Vote of No Confidence: A vote of no confidence has been unanimously passed on Mr. Newman Solomon Maitoro, effective immediately. This decision is based on clear evidence of:
Gross mis-use of power through the act of subjugation and autocracy.
Refusal to handover to the Deputy chairman in the stance of absence from the country
High-handedness and lack of transparency in financial and administrative matters;
Undermining of state structures and marginalization of legitimate voices within the youth body.
2. Call for Immediate Resignation: The Assembly calls on Mr. Maitoro to honorably step down from his position to allow for peace, integrity, and proper reformation of the national leadership.
3. Acting Chairman: the deputy chairman, Comrade Abubakar Danjuma shall be assume responsibility of chairmanship on acting capacity pending when a substantive chairman shall assume responsibility.
4. Appeal to Stakeholders: We call on the National Patron, National Board of Trustees and all relevant stakeholders to intervene in this all important issue to deliver the Reformed Youth Assembly from imminent collapse.
5. Appeal to Security Agencies: we appeal to all security agencies to take note of Mr Newman Maitoro in any case where he parades himself as the chairman of this noble Assembly.
6. Appeal to The General Public: We appeal to the general public to disregard Mr Newman Maitoro Solomon as the chairman of this Assembly.
7. Commitment to Unity and Progress: The North Central Reformed Youth Assembly remains committed to the vision of a reformed, transparent, and purpose-driven youth assembly and will not relent in advocating for accountability.
