Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence from his official duties.

Ngelale, who also serves as the Presidential Spokesperson, made this announcement through a memo addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Friday.

Citing pressing medical concerns within his immediate family, Ngelale explained that the difficult decision came after several days of consultation with his family.

“A vexatious medical situation has worsened at home, necessitating this leave of absence,” he revealed in his statement.

The leave will affect his multiple roles, including his duties as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

Despite the significance of these responsibilities, Ngelale emphasized that “the ship of state waits for no man,” reflecting on the gravity of his decision.

While the exact duration of his leave remains uncertain, Ngelale expressed his intent to return once circumstances permit.

“I look forward to resuming my national service roles when time, healing, and fate allow,” he concluded.
