Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State's recent decision to award a N1.2 billion contract for the repair of 25 boreholes has sparked significant reactions among stakeholders.

Critics argue that the allocated funds could have been used to sink over 400 new boreholes, thereby providing a more sustainable solution to the state's water supply challenges.

The project, which earmarks ₦48 million for the repair of each borehole, has raised questions about cost-effectiveness and the overall impact on improving access to clean water for Sokoto State residents.
