Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has called on affluent members of the Muslim community to contribute to the establishment of more Islamic schools to enhance religious education.
The governor made this appeal during the foundation-laying ceremony of an Islamic school in Suru, Suru Local Government Area, on Friday.
The new school, which is being funded by Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Suru (A.I. Suru), will be named in honor of the late Shirk Abubakar Giro Argungu.
Governor Idris praised the initiative, describing it as a significant motivator for fostering Islamic knowledge within the community.
"I appeal to wealthy individuals to follow the example of A. I. Suru, ensuring that the Muslim Ummah has the resources to deepen their understanding of Islam," Governor Idris stated.
He also encouraged the residents of Suru to support A. I. Suru's efforts for the benefit of the entire community.
Additionally, Governor Idris inaugurated a Juma'at Mosque, also built by A. I. Suru, and visited the General Hospital Suru, which was recently renovated by the local community.
The governor pledged his administration's support to further develop the hospital, lauding the contributions of A. I. Suru, Hon. Bello Kaoje, and others involved in the renovation.
The governor emphasized the importance of community-driven projects, urging citizens to take initiative in developing their communities rather than relying solely on government intervention.
The event was attended by key government officials, including the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena, and other prominent figures.
