In a bid to enhance transportation and support local businesses, the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) has commenced repairs on Zion Plaza - Olusoji Avenue linking Alao Akala Expressway, Ibadan.
OYSROMA Chairman, Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, announced on Friday that the agency plans to address other deteriorating roads across the state.
The current focus includes fixing the road and resolving drainage issues in the Zion Plaza - Olusoji Avenue area.
Mr. Ogunlade credited Governor Seyi Makinde for swiftly approving the road repairs, emphasizing the project's significance due to the area's poor condition.
Mr. Ogunlade highlighted that the rehabilitation will positively impact local businesses and transportation.
He also noted that the repair site leads to Senator Teslim Folarin's residence, a major opposition figure from the last general election.
Governor Makinde's responsiveness to public concerns and the goal of achieving pothole-free roads to boost socio-economic development were praised by Mr. Ogunlade.
He added that desilting existing drains and cutting out damaged road sections have already begun to alleviate traffic issues and improve road conditions.
Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, confirmed these developments in a statement issued.
