ZARIA OLD PUPILS TO FACELIFT ALMA MATA

Zaria old pupils under the auspices of Nurul huda Old pupils Association have vowed to improve the ancient glory and give the school a befitting facelift to compete favourably with other primary schools across the country.

Interim Chairman of the association, Professor. Ibrahim Musa Jaro made the pledge at the 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM) organized by the association, held at School premises in Tudun wada, Zaria.

Professor. Jaro said with zeal, determination and collective commitment of the school old students, the set goal will be achieved within shortest possible time.

Jaro who is also the Wazirin Tudun wada, Zaria said the primary school has produced different personalities with proven integrity who are currently occupying strategic positions in various sectors of endeavour.

He assured that with the coming together of old students under one umbrella, numerous achievements will sure be recorded in due course.

In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli represented by the Fagachin Zazzau, Alhaji Umaru Mohammed affirmed the commitment of the emirate to support and cooperate with the old students in the quest to enhance the standard of education in the school.

The Dan Buran Zazzau and Barden Keffi, Alhaji Sani Sha"aban while expressing delight on the effort, donated the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) for the replacement of roof zincs and other renovations in the school.

Sani Sha'aban also assured his readiness to donate more whenever the need arises.

In his contribution, Brig.General Bala Aliyu (rtd) traced some historical perspective of the school and encouraged members not to relent in their collective effort to improve the structural and academic status of the primary school.

Also speaking, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Bamalli, District head of Waje and Jarman Kudun Zazzau said as a former Head boy of the school, the collective commitment of the old students was not only encouraging but also timely.

He enjoined members to continue to widen the scope of membership to enable all products of school contribute positively to their alma mata.

Hajiya Zulai Iro Kaya, first Head girl of the school said "only two of us from our set are presently alive after graduating in 1968.

"I want to appeal to you to kindly donate generously towards improving the learning and teaching condition of our alma mata.I also want to pray to those personalities of blessed memory that established the school and all our tßeachers who are late now.

"May Almighty Allah grant them eternal est and Jannatul firdaus." She prayed.

Earlier, Alhaji Aminu Zakari Bagobiri, one of the old boys, expressed gratitude to all that contributed either in cash or in kind towards the success of the Annual General Meeting.

He however assured that the 2nd AGM will be more encompassing and more organized as more members will attend.
