Our attention has been drawn to a write-up by one "The Parrot Iyimoga Khaberi" who claims to be a media aide to the Senator elect of Nassarawa South Senatorial District Mr Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo.
Asking the distinguish People's Senator Umar Tanko Almakura to accept his defeat and withdraw his petition.
The Senator representing the Nasarawa South Senatorial District Senator Umar Tanko Almakura of the ruling party All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed his readiness to defend his mandate in court. So advise the Mr Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo and his boys to accept our decision of challenging the outcome of the election.
“We read with dismay today a write-up by the media aide to Mr Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo where he made very weird and wild claims about the outcome of the just concluded National Assembly elections, an election in which he emerged as the Senator elect by their making.
We want to let them know of our stands in this which is to seek redress in court and as an aggrieved party we serve them with the evidence of electoral frauds we will also present before the tribunal as alleged.
“Going to court is part of the electoral process and it is the most decent, statesmanlike and civilised course of action to take. We have made our decision. It is surely better than calling supporters to the streets and instigating social unrest”.
"I am adding that before they show up in court, he (Ogoshi) should consider it necessary to address some specific claims in his media aide wrote about".
Contrary to his statement and write-up, the election held on 25th February wasn't free and fair.
The 2023 National Assembly election in Nassarawa South Senatorial District is one of the most cunny and dark elections in the history of Nassarawa State.
Because the process wasn't credible that made it possible for Mr Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo of PDP to record more votes than Senator Umar Tanko Almakura contrary to the pre-election forecast.
Senator Umar Tanko Almakura's lifestyle includes legislative responsibilities, project execution,, attracting federal presence to his constituency, among others.
As a senator, Al-Makura has continued to make the voice of his people heard not only in the National Assembly but also in Nigerian politics and governance. He glorified the name of his senatorial district and the state in the eyes of the world with his vibrancy, oratoral skills, intellectual prowess, frequent and brilliant contributions to debates, building more bridges which enable him to attract more projects to his people through various government ministries, departments and agencies.
Within four years as a senator, Al-Makura has construct and rehabilitated many urban and rural roads in all the five local government areas of his senatorial district. They include construction of rural access road in Shabu, Ashige-Ugah – Fadaman Bauna in Lafia local government area, construction of road in Awe, Azara, Daddare, Agwatashi, school's in some of the local government areas and among others.
He is loved by the people because he worked for them and brought to them the fruit of democracy.
