Members of the KMT Movement, representing various KMT support groups across Yobe State, have reaffirmed their commitment to remain in the All Progressives Congress (APC), while reviewing their political plans ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The resolution was reached at a meeting of the movement held in Kaduna on Saturday, October 3, 2026, where members deliberated on the ongoing political developments and explored various options, opportunities and forms of cooperation within the political space.

According to a statement issued on behalf of the KMT Movement, the commitment of the movement to remain in the APC and work towards the success and re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the forthcoming presidential election remains unchanged.

The movement, however, said it would continue consultations with members and supporters across its various groups, organisations and political sections before taking further decisions concerning the forthcoming gubernatorial campaign and election in Yobe State.

It directed the heads of the various groups to consult their respective members and followers on the next steps and report their positions to the KMT Movement Secretariat within seven days.

The movement also said it would await the outcome of ongoing court cases challenging the APC gubernatorial primary election in Yobe State.

It stated that the interests of Yobe State, its supporters and citizens would remain central to determining its position and direction concerning the gubernatorial election.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsah, described in the statement as a prominent governorship aspirant in the May 2026 APC gubernatorial primary election in Yobe State.

The representatives were mandated to return to their respective groups and brief members on the outcome of the meeting and the next steps.

The statement was signed on behalf of the KMT Movement.
