Women across Niger State have been urged to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation efforts in support of Governor Umaru Muhammad Bago ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development, QS Hassan Baba Estu, made the call when he received members of Bago Mata Niger Na Godiya during a courtesy visit to his office.
Estu, who is also Matawalle Raba Nupe, said Governor Bago’s administration had impacted virtually every part of the state through its massive infrastructure development projects.
He noted that road construction was ongoing across the 25 local government areas, alongside urban renewal projects aimed at improving infrastructure and transforming major towns across the state.
The Permanent Secretary also cited the recent award of the contract for the Dandawdu–Gwada–Kuta Road, describing it as part of efforts to open up communities, enhance connectivity and stimulate economic activities.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of Bago Mata Niger Na Godiya, Khadijat Musa, said the group was targeting 500,000 votes for Governor Bago in the 2027 election.
She described Bago as a leader committed to the development and empowerment of women, noting that women had benefited from several policies and programmes of his administration.
Khadijat further pointed out that all 25 Vice Chairmen of the local government councils in Niger State are women, describing the development as evidence of the administration’s confidence in women’s leadership capacity and contribution to governance and development.
