Four High Court Judges and three Khadis of Shariah Courts of Appeal of Niger State, have been inaugurated by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The seven senior Judicial officers were sworn- in at the Niger State liaison office in Abuja by the Governor,Wednesday.
The National Judicial Council presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun approved the appointment of the senior Judicial officers at the 110 council meetings of the NJC held on Tuesday,the 13th January 2026.
Governor Umar Bago stated that he decided to make use of the presence of Chief Judge of Niger State,Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik and other Judiciary officials in Abuja for the ongoing Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee meeting to perform the oath-taking.
Governor Bago congratulated the appointees, emphasizing that their elevation reflects their dedication and hard work. He urged them to approach their responsibilities with seriousness and uphold fairness in their duties.
He also assured them of his administration's continued support to facilitate their success.
The event was witnessed by the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik; her Gombe State counterpart, Justice Halima Sadiya Muhammad; Grand Khadi of Niger State, Mohammed Abubakar Kigera; along with other judicial officials, family members, and supporters.
The judges sworn in included Abubakar Adamu, Ahmad Bala Ndajiwo, Gambo Sa'adatu Abubakar, and Wushishi Sulaiman Buhari. The Khadis included Aboki Usman Abdulrahman, Mohammed Ya'aba, and Muhammad Nasir Ibrahim.
The ceremony was a significant milestone, marked by the presence of distinguished judiciary officials and community members.
The appointment of the four High court Judges now brought the number of High Courts in Niger State to Seventeen with eight High courts in Minna,three in Suleja while Bida, Kontagora and Newbussa with one each.
While four other High courts in Lapai,Kuta,Kutigi and Rijau are without any presiding Judges just as that of Lapai and Kuta were being overseen by visiting judges from their jurisdiction.
The visiting judges are Justice Ahmed Danladi Badegi of Suleja High Court overseeing Lapai High court while Kuta High court is being overseen by Justice Isaac Kolo of Newbussa High court and High court number eight in the Minna Judicial Division has been without presiding high court judge in the last seven years.
