Governor Bago Lifts Night-Time Ban on Motorcycles, Tricycles in Minna

The Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has approved the total lifting of the restriction on the movement of motorcycles and tricycles within the Minna metropolis between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

This development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who explained that the decision followed a comprehensive review of the prevailing security situation in the State capital and was based on the strong recommendations of the State Security Committee.

According to the SSG, the removal of the restriction is a clear reflection of the significant and sustained improvement in the security landscape of Minna. He noted that the initial imposition of the ban was a proactive measure that effectively achieved its primary objectives of curbing criminal activities and protecting lives and property.

Alhaji Usman commended the unwavering commitment and professionalism of the security agencies, as well as the commendable cooperation and understanding demonstrated by residents of Minna throughout the period of the restriction.

He reassured citizens that the administration of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the people. He added that the State Government will continue to work closely with security agencies to monitor developments and sustain the current level of peace and security across the metropolis.

The SSG called on motorcycle and tricycle operators, as well as the general public, to conduct their activities in a lawful, orderly and responsible manner. He further stated that security agencies have been directed to remain vigilant and ensure strict compliance with all existing traffic and safety regulations.

Alhaji Usman conveyed the profound appreciation of the State Government to the resilient people of Minna for their patience, support and cooperation, which he described as instrumental to the security gains recorded.
