Yobe State’s leading governorship aspirant, Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Nguru/Adiyani boat mishap that occurred last Sunday, which claimed the lives of about 30 passengers from Yobe and Jigawa states.
In a condolence message signed by Abubakar Ahmed, Spokesman of the KMT Campaign Organization, and made available to Rimawaglobalnews in Damaturu, Tumsah described the incident as painful and heartbreaking, noting that the victims were hardworking Nigerians striving to earn a living.
The aspirant extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
He also prayed that Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest in the highest level of paradise.
Although currently outside the country,
Tumsah expressed regret over his inability to personally visit the bereaved families but disclosed that he had dispatched a strong delegation to commiserate with them and convey his sympathies.
He further appealed to relevant authorities at the federal and state levels to accelerate the delivery of relief to affected persons and called for increased public enlightenment on water transportation safety, especially among riverine communities.
Tumsah also condoled the governments and people of Yobe and Jigawa states, praying against the recurrence of such tragic incidents.
