President Tinubu Worries Over Rift Between SGF And Gov. Alia On APC

President Bola Tinubu has expressed concern over the ongoing rift between Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia, highlighting its potential impact on the prospects of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming elections.

Speaking at the wedding of George Akume's son, Samuel Akume, and his wife Deborah, Tinubu pledged to intervene and resolve the issues dividing the two leaders in the interest of the state and nation. 


Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing the President at the occasion, praised Senator Akume describing him as a valuable asset to national development and urged unity within the political class.

He also highlighted the significance of the Tiv people and their contribution to national development, emphasizing the importance of unity in the country and calling for the resolution of disputes between Akume and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for the benefit of the region and the nation.

Acknowledging the strained relationship between the two leaders since May 2023, he stressed the need for reconciliation and unity, stating that the state's welfare outweighs any differences. 

Earlier, Sen. Akume commended President Bola Tinubu and acknowledged his efforts to mend the division between him and the governor and other key leaders for the benefit of all stakeholders.


The SGF promised to stand by his son to get nature his success in marriage just as he emphasized the importance of unity, love, and endurance in marriage. 


Governor Hyacinth Alia on his part counseled the couple to live together in unity and support one other, describing the holy matrimony between Samuel and Deborah as a beautiful celebration of love, unity, and family.

It would be recalled that recently, President Tinubu constituted a reconciliatory committee headed by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas to resolve the lingering impasse between the SGF and Gov. Hyacinth Alia.
