The Nasarawa State Government has assured residents of the state of the full implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Law, as it charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strictly adhere to budgetary provisions to achieve set fiscal objectives.
The Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi, gave the assurance on Tuesday in Lafia while briefing journalists on the sectoral allocations of the 2026 budget.
She urged accounting officers across MDAs to ensure prudent utilisation of allocated funds in line with the Appropriation Law, stressing that the success of the budget depends on discipline, transparency and collective responsibility.
According to her, the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule is committed to working with all stakeholders, including the media, to ensure the effective implementation of the 2026 budget, christened “The Budget of Strategic Consolidation.”
Nasarawa Newsline reports that Governor Sule on Monday assented to the 2026 budget, which stands at ₦545.2 billion, following its passage by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. The figure represents an increase of over ₦100 billion compared to the ₦384.3 billion approved for the 2025 fiscal year.
Giving a breakdown of the sectoral allocations, Abdullahi disclosed that infrastructure development received the highest allocation of ₦145 billion, underscoring the government’s commitment to opening up the state and stimulating economic growth.
Other key allocations include ₦94 billion for education; ₦83 billion for internal security, governance and general administration; ₦39 billion for finance, investment and trade; ₦37 billion for health; and ₦31 billion for agriculture and water resources.
She further listed ₦26 billion for local government and community development, ₦21 billion for tourism, culture and information, ₦16 billion each for legislation as well as law and justice, while humanitarian services, women and youth development received ₦13 billion. Environment and natural resources got ₦9 billion, science, innovation and ICT ₦4 billion, while civil service and pension matters were allocated ₦2 billion.
The commissioner explained that major capital projects captured in the 2026 fiscal year include the construction of a flyover at the Abuja–Mararaba Market area, construction of the Lafia–Kwandare–Garaku Road, renovation of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Complex, and the purchase of OBD digital transmitter equipment for the state-owned media outfit, among others.
Responding to questions from journalists, Abdullahi reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to ensure full implementation of the budget to deliver sustainable development and consolidate on previous achievements across critical sectors.
