Abdourahaman Chani, the President of Niger's military junta, has accused Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of accepting substantial funds from France in exchange for allowing the establishment of French military bases on Nigeria's borders.

In a statement, Chani alleged that Tinubu, along with other African leaders from neighboring countries, colluded with France to extend their political power and secure prolonged leadership terms.

Chani's claims were based on an investigation conducted by Niger's government.

He also reiterated his intention to withdraw from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), stating, “Insha Allah, we will never return to ECOWAS, as we are tired of French colonial rule."
