The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council Pharm Ahmed Baba Yahaya, has called on the people of the area to embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations for the overall peace and development of the area.
The Council Boss stated this while addressing stakeholders during an expanded Peace and Security meeting held at the council's Secretariat yesterday Thursday.
It was reported that the meeting was coming ahead of the planned move by the State Government to ensure that the Bassa people from the area who are displaced for many years now, return home.
The Chairman said that peace is the necessary requirement for the development of any society, hence the need for the people of the area to embrace it at all times.
According to him, peace is sacrosanct and we must all embrace it at all times for betterment of the area.
Yahaya informed the stakeholders that the meeting was specifically aimed at making a wider consultation to get the masses sensitize on the state government move for the return of the displaced Bassa people.
"Who have been away from the local government area for years" He said.
The Council Boss appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his magnanimous gesture in ensuring that lasting peace is restored to the area.
He called on the citizens of the area to support Gov. Sule's peace efforts in the area and for the return of Bassa people.
Also speaking HRH, the Ohimege of Opanda Umaisha and the President Toto Local Government Traditional Council Alh. Usman Abdullahi commended the leadership style of Engr A A Sule, especially in the area of peace, infrastructural development among others.
The Monarch pledged his people's support for the State Government initiative to sustain peace in the area.
According to him, we are brothers and sisters and have coexisted for decades.
" We must embrace peace at all times" he added.
It would be reported that the meeting brought together stakeholders including two House of Assembly members representing Toto Local Government in Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi (APC-Toto/ Gadabuke) and Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa'ad (PDP-Umaidha/Ugya) Deputy Chairman of the area Hon. Atnadu Sunday, Speaker ,Toto LG Legislative Council, Councillors, Traditional Rulers, Head of Security Operatives, leaders of Youth Organizations among others with contributions from some of the stakeholders on the emerging issue and sustenance of peace in the area.
