Former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has urged leaders to exercise caution and humility in their positions, warning that a day of reckoning awaits those who fail to fulfill their responsibilities.
Al-Makura made the statement during the commissioning of the remodeled office of Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe, located along Shandam Road in Lafia. He reminded leaders that their positions are temporary and emphasized the importance of fostering strong relationships with the people they represent at all levels of governance.
"The positions you occupy are not permanent. They are temporary, and you must strive to serve with sincerity and dedication," he stated.
The former governor also called for peace, love, and unity among the people of Nasarawa State, underscoring that such values are essential for the state’s progress and development.
Reflecting on the history of the office, Senator Al-Makura recounted how, during his tenure as governor, he purchased the structure from the family of the late Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ahmed Kunta.
He transformed the building into the Deputy Governor's office to enhance administrative efficiency. Prior to this, the deputy governor's office was located far from the governor's, which hindered smooth coordination.
Senator Al-Makura's remarks highlighted his commitment to legacy-building and his vision for a united and prosperous Nasarawa State.
