Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has reaffirmed the scheme's commitment to ensuring the safety of corps members throughout their service year. During an unscheduled visit to the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Ahmed assured corps members that the scheme is actively working to protect them and provide essential security guidance.

Speaking after the 2024 Batch B Stream II orientation course closing ceremony, Ahmed said, "We are taking significant measures to safeguard corps members, including delivering security-related lectures and distributing pamphlets with safety guidelines." He emphasized the importance of avoiding night journeys and using approved motor parks for transportation.

In addition to safety efforts, Ahmed expressed hope that the federal government would review the corps members' allowances in light of the new minimum wage law. "We remain hopeful that the government will consider corps members in the implementation of the new minimum wage," he added.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Isaac Danladi, encouraged corps members to fully engage in the development of their host communities. He assured them of the state's commitment to their welfare, security, and well-being.

Mrs. Salamatu Muhammad, NYSC Coordinator for Nasarawa State, praised the corps members for their conduct during the three-week orientation. She highlighted the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and urged them to embrace their postings with dedication and selflessness.

The ceremony concluded with congratulations to the 2,182 corps members and camp officials for a successful and incident-free orientation exercise.
