The Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Honourable Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, has announced the formation of a committee dedicated to overseeing sports activities in the region, with a primary focus on the upcoming 2024 Nasarawa Governor's Cup.
The newly established committee will be responsible for developing a comprehensive sports policy, promoting grassroots sports, supporting sports tourism, fostering partnerships, and ensuring safety and inclusivity within the local sports landscape.
The committee includes representatives from the government, sports organizations, the education sector, and health professionals.
Honourable Tashas emphasized that this initiative aims to prepare the Toto contingents for the competition and help identify qualified players across the three districts of Toto LGA.
The Chairman expressed his administration's commitment to youth and sports development, highlighting efforts to encourage local participation in sports, attract national events through sports tourism, and implement measures for equal opportunities in sports and governance.
The committee, led by Supervisory Councilor for Social Services, Hon. Bala Musa, includes various members with expertise in youth and sports development.
The committee will regularly meet to monitor progress, address challenges, and make recommendations as the competition approaches.
In a press statement by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Idris Toto, the Council Chairman congratulated the committee members and urged them to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to enhance sports infrastructure and promote active participation in upcoming sports activities in the state.
The committee will oversee the entire competition process and be responsible for selecting players to represent Toto LGA in the 2024 Nasarawa Governor's Cup.
