Lagbaja disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the Project Management Workshop 2024 organised by the Nigerian Army Special Projects for the Nigerian Army Project Officers on Tuesday in Makurdi with the theme: Promoting Innovation and Adaptability in Project Management in the Nigerian Army.
Represented by the Commander 4 Special Forces, Maj. Gen. Hilary Nzan, Lagbaja reiterated that officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army would continue to defend the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria at all times and circumstances.
He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for the confidence he reposed in him, the officers and the soldiers, stressing that they were working round the clock to tackle all security challenges confronting the country.
He disclosed that the workshop sought to enhance participants capabilities by equipping them with cutting-edge technology, aligned with global standards to guarantee project success for the Nigerian Army through effective skill acquisition and application.
"The strategic integration of technology in project management drives success, fosters innovation and promotes sustainability.
"It is my belief that this Workshop will offer a platform to assess and learn from current experiences to enable us achieve better results in the future," Lagbaja said.
He said that the Nigerian Army executed most of its projects through direct labour, stressing that the
project officers responsible for the planning, execution, managing and supervision of Nigerian Army projects needed to acquire relevant skills to effectively manage projects, enhance efficiency and deliver successful outcomes.
He enjoined the participants to take maximum advantage of the workshop to build their capacities and develop competencies, adding that they should adopt the right attitude in carrying out their responsibilities as Nigerian Army Project Officers.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Special Projects, Maj. Gen. Shamsideen Shafaru, disclosed that the aim of workshop was to improve the capacity of participants on global best practices in project management through acquiring and applying of modern skill and theories in technology to ensure success of Nigerian Army projects.
Shafaru said that it was essential considering the evolving economic and environmental challenges threatening project execution in Nigeria.
"This informed the theme for the Workshop. This workshop represents a significant step towards enhancing the project management capabilities within the Nigerian Army Engineers.
"The anticipated outcomes of the workshop include ability to monitor and evaluate project frameworks to unbundle innovation driven technology in construction methods and project management, exploring the importance of fostering a culture of innovation through sound and creative leadership as well as organisational practices," Shafaru said.
He further appreciated the efforts of the Commander Corps of Engineers for his unflinching support and interventions at providing quality manpower and oversight duties on all Nigerian Army Special Projects activities across the country.
