FRSC Begins Free Vehicle Inspection in Benue, Suspends Arrests for Two Days
“Operation Orange Impact” Targets Safer Roads Ahead of Rainy Season

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State has commenced a two-day free vehicle inspection exercise, assuring motorists that no arrests or penalties will be enforced during the period.
The Sector Commander, Victory Kayode-Oni, made this known on Wednesday while supervising the exercise in Makurdi, explaining that the initiative forms part of the corps’ nationwide safety campaign tagged “Operation Orange Impact.”
According to her, the exercise, which runs on May 6 and 7, is designed to ensure that vehicles on the road are in good condition, particularly as the rainy season approaches.
She added that a similar exercise would also be conducted in June to sustain road safety efforts.
Kayode-Oni described the programme as part of the FRSC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), aimed at promoting roadworthiness and safeguarding the lives of motorists and other road users.
“This is our own way of giving back to the community by creating a safer motoring environment,” she stated.
She further explained that instead of enforcing traffic laws during the exercise, FRSC officials would focus on educating drivers on essential vehicle maintenance, including checks on tyres, windscreen wipers, brakes, and other critical components.
The Sector Commander reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to continuous public sensitisation, advocacy, and effective traffic control across the state.
She noted that ongoing road construction in Benue has contributed to rising traffic violations, stressing that the FRSC would intensify monitoring and enforcement after the exercise.
Kayode-Oni also disclosed plans to strengthen collaboration with the Benue State Ministry of Works and Transport, alongside other relevant stakeholders, to reduce infractions and enhance road safety.
She assured residents that despite road closures and diversions due to construction, the corps would ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent gridlocks across major routes in the state.
