BREAKING: Tinubu Sacks Wale Edun, Appoints Taiwo Oyedele New Finance Minister in Cabinet Shake-Up
Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa also relieved of duties as President Tinubu reshuffles key economic portfolios to strengthen governance and accelerate Renewed Hope Agenda delivery.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor but significant reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), relieving Mr. Wale Edun of his duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
In a swift replacement move, the President has appointed Dr. Taiwo Oyedele, former Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, as the new Minister of Finance.
The development, announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is aimed at strengthening economic coordination and improving policy delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a related development, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, was also relieved of his position. He is to hand over to Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, who has been nominated as minister-designate for the ministry.
According to the presidency, both outgoing ministers are expected to complete handover processes to their successors by Thursday, April 23, 2026.
