Speaking on the sidelines of the maiden edition of the Mid-Term Review Meeting of the National Council on Works, which commenced on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Government House Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Works, Hassan Baba Etsu, granted an exclusive interview to newsmen, where he commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for spearheading a bold infrastructural revolution in Niger State.

Etsu emphasized that Governor Bago assumed office with a clear mission and determination to bridge the infrastructural deficit plaguing Nigeria’s largest state by landmass.
According to him, the administration has launched an ambitious urbanization and development master plan, including the construction of five flyovers and an underpass in Minna a feat he described as unprecedented anywhere in Nigeria.

He further revealed that simultaneous road expansion projects are ongoing across the 25 local government areas, with five to six-kilometer roads being constructed to open up rural areas, promote investment, and enhance agricultural productivity.

“Niger State is agrarian, and the governor is rightly called the 'farmer’s governor’ because he is deliberately creating access roads for farmers to transport their produce efficiently,” Etsu said.
“We are already witnessing reduced travel time, lower transport costs, and better access to healthcare all part of the governor’s integrated development agenda.”

The Permanent Secretary also noted that the government is investing massively in housing development, especially in border areas close to Abuja, such as Madalla and Suleja, with efforts to revive abandoned housing schemes and attract private sector investment.

He concluded by urging citizens and stakeholders to visit Niger State and see firsthand the scale of transformation taking place under Governor Bago’s administration, asserting that such simultaneous infrastructural development has never been witnessed in the history of Nigeria.
