The vibrant city of Sisinbaki, the ancestral home of Hon. Dr. Jeremiah Umaru, ACA, ACTI, was the stage for a spectacular celebration as the 9th Sisinbaki North Central Carnival of Peace and Unity reached its thrilling climax. The event, powered by Rep. Umaru, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and Member representing Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, brought together the diverse cultural heritage of the region, leaving a lasting impression on attendees from across the North Central zone.
Held at the Sisinbaki Play Ground, the carnival featured a rich display of traditional customs, with various social groups and associations showcasing their finest attire, creating a colorful tapestry of local pride. Spectators were treated to an electrifying competition of cultural dances and masquerade displays, celebrating the vibrant traditions of the region.
The standout performance came from the Ablaku dance troupe of the Eggon ethnic group, who triumphed in the cultural dance competition.
Their captivating performance left audiences both in-person and online in awe, earning them ₦1 million and a cow as the top prize.
The Women-Wing of RICUDA claimed second place, taking home ₦750,000 and a cow, while the Mada ethnic group secured third place, with a prize of ₦500,000 and a cow. Other troupes who participated in the competition were awarded consolation prizes of ₦250,000 each.
Hon. Dr. Umaru, in his speech at the event, expressed his joy at the success of the carnival and commended all participants and spectators for their contribution to its success.
He highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the region, not only as a reflection of the past but as a vital part of future economic and social development.
"As we unite as a people, let us remember that our culture is not just a reflection of our history, but a beacon for our future," he said.
"Let us continue to preserve and celebrate our unique cultures, fostering love, unity, respect, and compassion in every community."
The carnival also attracted dignitaries from various sectors, traditional rulers, and residents from the Diaspora, reinforcing the event's message of unity and cultural pride.
