The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Hon. Silas Agara, has urged Nigerians to engage in regular exercise and sports to promote healthy living.
Agara's message was delivered by Mr. Joshua Fagbami, the NDE Coordinator for Nasarawa State, during the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Nasarawa chapter's dinner and award night, held on Friday in Lafia.

Highlighting the importance of exercise, Agara emphasized that regular physical activity is essential for good health, and even medical professionals frequently recommend it to aid recovery in individuals with health challenges.

Agara, who also serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Chairman of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO), praised SWAN for organizing sporting events aimed at helping journalists stay fit.

He further pledged to collaborate with SWAN in promoting sports development across the state, providing opportunities for citizens to hone their athletic skills.
Archbishop of Faith-Hill Prophetic Assembly, Prof. Emmanuel Jatau, echoed Agara's sentiments, encouraging Nigerians of all ages to participate in physical activities.

He noted that exercise not only helps burn calories but also fosters national unity by bridging divides during sporting events.

Com. Smah George, Chairman of SWAN Nasarawa, reiterated the importance of the event, stating that the 2024 SWAN Week competition involved journalists competing in seven different sports, fostering fitness, camaraderie, and networking among participants.

The event culminated in the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals, teams, and sports stakeholders.
