POLITICS: PDP Dominates Bauchi LG Polls: Secures Victory in All 20 LGAs

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has won all the 20 Local Governments chairmanship seats in the Saturday August 17 Local Government Election.

The declaration was made by the Executive Chairman of the Bauchí State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Alhaji Ahmed Makama, in his office on Saturday night after conduct of the exercise.

According to him, after a successful conduct of the exercise and diligent collation and compilation of the results, all of the 20 chairmanship candidates of the PDP won the ballots.

Makama said that he made the declaration based on the powers vested in him by the relevant electoral laws as the Executive Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission

The Executive Chairman of the Bauchí State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Alhaji Ahmed Makama, announced the results in his office on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, had earlier raised alarm that the ruling PDP and BASIEC would allegedly rig the election in favour of PDP.

The Chairmen – Elect are expected to be sworn-in on Sunday, August 18.

The council election was marred by voter apathy and late arrival of materials in most polling Units monitored by correspondent.

The APC and other opposition parties will likely not accept the results.
