Members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal (Atafarfasa) emerged as the flag-bearer of party for Sabon Gari Local Government Kaduna State in the forthcoming Local Government elections held on Tuesday.
Our Correspondent reports that the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has scheduled the local government elections in the state for October 19, 2024.
The returning officer for the primary elections, Ibrahim Haruna said Lawal was sole candidate of the party and he scored all the votes casted during the primary elections.
He added that the election was in fulfillment of the requirements of the electoral laws and party regulations.
The election, which was peaceful was witnessed by the representative of KAD-SIECOM, Security and other key stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Bashir Saka-Dadi,.Chairman, elders Committee of the Party in Sabon Gari LGA commended party delegates for their maturity exhibited during the process.
According to him, the Sabon Gari Local Government has 11 wards adding out of the 11, the party conducts elections in only two wards while remaining candidates emerged on consensus.
Four candidates expressed interest to contest for Sabon Gari Local Government Council chairmanship most of them were in attendance.
"All the four aspirants unanimousely agreed to support one person as sole candidate of the party," he said.
Sakadadi advised party members to maintained the tempo and voted APC out on the General election day.
In his acceptance speech, the candidate Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal (Atafarfasa) appreciated the party members for giving him the opportunity
He, therefore, appealed for improved support and commitments from the members for the overall success of the party during forthcoming elections
