Rev. Fr Alexander Shango, has admonished Christian against greed, saying instead they should cultivate the habit of arms giving.

Shango who is a Lecturer at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi gave the advice in his sermon at St Faustina's Catholic church, Tse-Adi a suburb of Makurdi on Sunday.

The cleric reiterated that  amassing primitive wealth amounted to greed which was responsible for the severe hunger and starvation in Nigeria.

He lamented that most Nigerians acquire wealth primitively, stressing that they amass wealth that they do not even need.

He further lamented that primitive accumulation of  wealth was the major cause of the sufferings as well as the hardship that Nigerians were passing through recently.

"This is the cause of poverty and hunger in the land. Even when the Federal Government (FG) gives food stuff for free distribution they end up in the markets.

"People who are saddled with the responsibility of sharing the items to the beneficiaries in most situations sell them.

"Is this not madness? How can you sell what belongs to the people in order to better your lot and the majority to keep suffering," Shango said.

He sued for a change of attitude in order to make Nigeria a better place and make life worth living for all and sundry.

"I advise you to have a mind of assistance, a mind of mercy and assist people without ceasing. You should always see God in humanity.

"It is only when we do this, that God will reward us abundantly," the cleric said.

He encouraged people not to wait until when someone sought for help from them before they would assist them but as soon as they noticed that one was having a challenge they should wade in and render assistance.
