Residents of Kilema in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, have urgently called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to prioritize the reconstruction of the Kilema/Tudun Amba Bridge.

This plea follows severe flooding caused by a prolonged 9-hour downpour, which submerged the bridge and left it impassable for both vehicles and pedestrians.

During the flood, hundreds of commuters were stranded, including teachers from Police Secondary Lafia who were en route to a graduation ceremony.

They and other affected individuals stressed that this is not an isolated incident, citing recurring issues with the bridge's vulnerability to flooding.

Local residents, including Doma’s Adam Alhassan and driver Amadu Attah, have highlighted the critical need for government intervention to safeguard lives and property.

Business activities in the region have been severely disrupted, according to Comrade Haruna Abubakar and Bala Simon Alu.

Shehu Abbas, Chairman of the Kilema Youth Development Association, reported that many homes along the riverbank were also affected and called for immediate assistance from the authorities to address the situation.
