The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D, on Saturday received a heroic welcome from his constituents as he was unanimously endorsed to contest for the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Speaker made a triumphant entry into his hometown, Bassa District of Kokona Local Government Area, where thousands of supporters lined the roads from Anguwan Jalla, Anguwan Mailafiya, Jankanwa, Kandere Mada, and Bassa to receive him in grand style.
The event, held at Ukeh Village — regarded as the ancestral and decision-making center of the Eggon people in Kokona West — brought together elders under the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), youth groups, traditional leaders, and political supporters.
Speaking at the gathering, the Village Head of Ukeh, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, said the people invited the Speaker to formally urge him to contest for the House of Representatives seat, recalling that it was at the same ground they had earlier directed him to contest for the State Assembly seat, which eventually led to his success.
The elders’ leader, Jonathan Anzega, and youth representative, Hon. Maikasuwa Audu, commended Dr. Jatau for his quality representation, developmental strides, and humility in leadership. They pledged total support and mobilization across Kokona, Keffi, and Karu to ensure his victory in 2027.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, assuring his people that he would give serious consideration to their calls when the time is right. He urged them to begin consultations and mobilization across the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
“I want to urge you to start consultations, mobilization, and wooing other people from the other two LGAs to support us on this project, because it is not only us that will decide the votes to win the House of Representatives for KKK,” the Speaker said.
While addressing the crowd, Speaker Jatau reaffirmed his commitment to Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, describing him as a leader with a clear vision for the state. He assured his people that the much-awaited Amba–Bassa Road will be constructed before the end of Governor Sule’s tenure.
During the visit, the Speaker also commissioned a two-classroom block and an office he built at Government Secondary School, Bassa, and inaugurated two boreholes — part of the over 30 he has sunk across his constituency.
In addition, Dr. Jatau made symbolic presentations of motorcycles and tricycles to beneficiaries, along with generous cash donations to several groups including elders, youths, the Jatau Gida Gida political movement, and the Jatau Riders Mobilization Group, among others.
The high-energy event further solidified the Speaker’s grassroots popularity and reaffirmed his growing influence within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as one of the party’s most formidable leaders in Nasarawa State.
Political observers believe that his endorsement and large-scale projects reflect both his commitment to community development and his readiness to take on greater political responsibility come 2027.
