A group of retired footballers from Lagos State, under the banner of the Lagos Legends Club (LCC), visited the family of the late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah last Friday to offer their condolences.
The visit took place at the family home in Magodo, Lagos, where the ex-footballers also signed the condolence register open to the public.
The delegation was led by Eng. Waidi Akanni, the Convener of LCC and a former Nigerian international player.
Akanni expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator Ubah, describing the news of his death as a devastating shock to himself and millions of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
In a heartfelt statement, Akanni praised the late Senator as a kind-hearted and patriotic Nigerian who had grand visions for the country's future.
"Late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah was a very good and kind-hearted man, who touched millions of lives positively.
He was a detribalized Nigerian, who had great hopes and plans for a better Nigeria," Akanni said.
Other ex-footballers in the delegation echoed Akanni's sentiments, lauding Senator Ubah's significant contributions to Nigerian society, particularly through sports and football as tools for empowerment.
The group prayed for the eternal rest of his soul and for God to grant the family the strength to endure the loss.
